Radio for migrants is a African-European communication and media platform designed to cater to the specific informational and cultural needs of migrant communities. Migrants are individuals or groups of people who have moved to a new country or region, often in search of better opportunities or to escape difficult conditions in their home countries. These individuals may face challenges related to language barriers, cultural differences, and navigating their new environment, making radio a valuable tool for addressing these issues.

English Version
Radio for Migrants is an online radio station conceived nearly ten years ago by Alberto Cicala for Mater Africa.
Back in 1977, Cicala had already designed and built an FM station called Radio Scotland, engaging groups of young people in Sicily for two years.
Forty-two years later, thanks to a project funded by the European Union, Radio for Migrants began uninterrupted online broadcasting.
The web radio provides information and entertainment for migrant communities, offering news, cultural programs, language lessons, and music from different countries (currently being revamped).
Its main mission is twofold:
to keep migrants connected to their cultural roots, especially Nigerian heritage,
and to support their integration into new host communities.
The station maintains a strong digital presence through live streaming, podcasts, and social media, reaching an ever-wider audience. It also collaborates with sponsors and organizations to provide tangible support to migrant communities.
The project anticipates the new Mattei Passport, which will deliver remote Italian language courses for young Nigerians selected to work in Italy.
Listeners can access Radio for Migrants via its official website, where they can find live broadcasts, recorded programs, and informative articles. A mobile app is also available, ensuring convenient access to resources and entertainment on the go.
Radio for Migrants plays a vital role in addressing the challenges faced by migrant communities: it not only provides essential information but also fosters cultural preservation, community building, and integration into their new home countries.
